I recently met up with a friend in London who until a few years ago lived in Southsea.‘The thing I loved about Southsea was that not only does it have the seaside, but that anything seems possible. People have an idea for a new business and just do it, it’s a city of invention and entrepreneurs. And, there’s always so much to do, if I wasn’t at a pub gig, I’d be practising archery or learning a foreign language.’ he said. I’d had similar thoughts myself, but it was good to hear them from someone looking at the city from afar.
There’s probably no better example of business acumen than the antique dealer Colin McCloud (p.34), or the inventive transition of a beautiful house (p.14). Plus we gain an insight into what our MP, Stephen Morgan loves about the city and his hopes for it in future. But we mustn’t forget all of our amazing entrepreneurial advertisers — please support them and if you use their services or products don’t forget to mention you saw them in Southsea Lifestyle.
