Words By Luke Newton
Over the years I’ve been grateful to advertise and sporadically write for Southsea Lifestyle. It’s been a while, but I couldn’t be more excited to be back here in-print ahead of the return of the Sweat Fitness Festival and I’m thankful to Southsea Lifestyle for their support as one of our media partners.
The event traces its roots back to 2015. The ‘Southsea Fitness Festival’ took over Castle Field each summer with the simple aim of inspiring and celebrating active lifestyles. Between 2015 and 2019 we welcomed thousands of people to one of the first Fitness Festivals in the UK, and the only one that was free to attend. The event grew significantly each year, and we have so many great memories.
In 2021 with just a few weeks to prepare, we ran a pilot event at Gunwharf Quays — it proved a big success — one we couldn’t have achieved without the support of our local network and fitness community. And now, we’re counting down the days to what is shaping up to be the highest-profile Sweat Fitness Festival yet. We will be joined by internationally-recognised fitness brands, including TRX and Hyperice, and Gunwharf Quays partners such as Wagamama and The Alchemist. The Festival continues its mission to provide a platform for local businesses, teams, and fitness instructors, and we have our most varied stage line-up yet.
The Festival A-Z is something else…
Aerial Dance, Bounce Fit, Cold Water Immersion, Floating Mindfulness, Hyperice Recovery Zone, Live DJs, Mindset coaching, Street Dance, Tai
Chi, TRX Workshops and Workouts, Yoga, Zumba, and much more to experience and try out over the weekend.
We will be releasing the schedule via our newsletter, and then our social channels in early April. For now, save the date and we’ll hope to see you on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th of April. The Festival remains free to attend!
A special thank you to our host venue, Gunwharf Quays, for their support in our quest to inspire active lifestyles in our community and beyond.
